June 10, 2008 - Domestic Violence
Domestic violence can happen to anyone no matter of race, age,
gender, or economic or social status. According to
www.womenslaw.org, about 95% of
victims of domestic violence are women. Over 50% of all women will experience
physical violence in an intimate relationship, and for 24-30% of those women,
the battering will be regular and on-going. Every 15 seconds the crime of
battering occurs. Join us June 10 as Jackie Foley, Community Education
Advocate for the Women's Shelter in Rochester, will share with us the historical
views of battering, how to protect yourself from it and ways to get help if you
or someone you know are in a domestic violence situation.
