Come Join the Mothers & More Gourmet Club
In June, we'll launch the new Mothers & More Gourmet Club. Don't let the
word "Gourmet" scare you away! This is a quarterly supper club where groups
of 4-5 families get together in each other's homes and enjoy a themed menu
(such as, "Make Our Own Takeout Chinese Food", "Everything Can Be Made on a
Grill", "Italian Beyond Pasta", "Three-Ingredient Cooking"). Each family
selects a recipe from the menu to prepare. It's sort of like a potluck where
you're given the recipe! It is an opportunity to try cooking some new things
and get to know Mothers & More families in a small, intimate setting. We'll
be sending out an Evite for people to sign up for June and then we'll assign
each family to a group. Each group will have a host who will send out the
Evite with details for their meeting. Email Heather Christy at
heatherchristy@mac.com if you'd like to help plan the menus.

Al Fresco Progressive Lunch in St. Paul and Trader Joes Run, Sat. July 26th
(11:00 am - 5:00 pm)
-
We'll take a break from being moms and explore a few restaurants with outdoor seating in downtown St. Paul
and then head over to Trader Joes for some shopping.
Farmer's Market Brunch Reprise Was Delicious Again
Four families shopped, cooked, and feasted together at our Spring
Farmer's Market Brunch on May 31st. We made a Roasted Asparagus and
Cheddar Frittata, Local Bacon, Roasted Potatoes with Thyme (and made
extra delicious with bacon fat), Cinnamon Bread French Toast with Apple
Butter and Candied Pecans and rounded off the menu with a selection of
baked goods from the marketing, including Chocolate Zucchini bread and
Oatmeal Caramel Cookies. Since the Farmer's Market wasn't quite at its
peak yet for fruits and vegetables, we decided we need to return again
this summer so look for an Evite soon for a Farmer's Market Picnic Lunch
where moms will shop and create a wonderful picnic and meet the rest of
the family at Soldier's Field Park.
Recipe for the Month
Homemade Popsicles
From Christy McBroom (her mom used to make
them!)
Ingredients
1 cup bananas (2 medium)
10 oz. package strawberries
1 3/4 cup crushed pineapple, including juice
Beat until well blended in blender and add
2/3 cup evaporated milk
Pour in popsicle molds or ice cube trays.
Makes approximately 12-16
large popsicles or 24-32 small ones. It's good as a
smoothie too!
